Hopewell Township Democratic Committee Proudly Chooses Uma Purandare as candidate for November 2021

Updated: Sep 12, 2021

PRESS RELEASE

September 9, 2021

For Immediate Release

On September 8, 2021 the Hopewell Township Democratic Committee unanimously chose Ms. Uma Purandare to run as the Democratic candidate for the open seat on the Hopewell Township Committee in the November 2, 2021 election.

Current Mayor Julie Blake withdrew her name from the ballot on September 7th, due to other commitments. Under New Jersey law in the event of withdrawal of a candidate chosen in the Democratic primary, the local Democratic Committee chooses a successor to fill the open slot on the ballot.

“We are happy to have such an outstanding candidate to fill the slot on the ballot,” notes Bill Stolow, Chair of The Hopewell Township Democratic Committee. “Uma Purandare is a 20 year resident of Hopewell Township. She is a scientist and has been a community leader in the Hopewell Valley Food Pantry, the Girl Scouts, and the Parent Teacher Organization to name a few. She has extensive knowledge of Township concerns and governance based on six years of service on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.”

She is committed to maintaining open space, a sustainable community with a reasonable cost of living for all, responsible stewardship of public funds, and being responsive to all Hopewell’s residents.

The Township Democratic Committee is honored to present such an outstanding person to the voters in the November 2, 2021 election.
